The complex patterns We’re Living with

The complex patterns We’re Living with

This isn’t easy to write. But it needs saying , because silence helps no one.

Over the last week or so I heard stories that stopped me in my tracks. Real people, struggling under the weight of anxiety, complex PTSD, and the relentless pressure of simply trying to hold life together. It brought home, again, how widespread this has become, and how deeply these patterns are affecting us all.

Inheritance of Trauma

Each generation passes its patterns on, not just through behaviours and choices, but in setting down the environment a child develops in. When a parent carries unhealed trauma, they set the landscape that their child’s blueprint forms within, leaving them predisposed to heightened responses before they even arrive in this world.

Then life begins layering its own challenges on top. And because the starting point is already strained, experiences that might otherwise have been manageable can quickly tip into overwhelm.

Symptoms vs. Roots

Anxiety. Complex PTSD. These aren’t root causes, they’re symptoms. Signs of nervous systems already under strain, meeting a world that is itself overloaded.

It’s not only the “big” things, wars, political unrest, financial pressures. It’s also the closer-to-home stresses: strained families, exhausted parents, friends and partners stretched thin. Children grow up absorbing all of this, while carrying the imprint of patterns that were set in motion long before they were born.

The Generation at Crisis Point

Young adults are carrying the heaviest weight right now, not because they are weaker, but because the spiral has reached crisis point in their generation. If nothing changes, the burden for those who follow will only deepen.

Why Acknowledgement Matters

Trauma is not a competition. It doesn’t matter whether it looks “big” or “small” from the outside, it shapes how we respond to everything that follows. And if it shapes how we respond, it has to be acknowledged. Unresolved trauma only grows more complicated. We can’t keep pushing it under the rug just because it doesn’t fit someone else’s idea of what trauma “should” look like.

My Lived Experience

I know this from experience. My trauma was the invisible kind, the sort that didn’t look like much from the outside but lived under the surface every single day. I was shocked to discover just how far back its roots went.

I can also see now just how much I carried, and how those echoes touched my children’s lives too. It added to their own personal load, even as they navigate a world already overflowing with pressure.

Responsibility Without Blame

This isn’t about blame, least of all parental blame. And it’s not about beating yourself up when you wish you’d done better. It’s about self-responsibility: recognising our own patterns and finding ways to shift them. Because when we face our patterns, we project less. We reduce the weight on those around us. And we create space for honest dialogue instead of silence.

Why I Share This

That’s why I’m sharing this today.
Because it isn’t easy.
Because so many people are struggling.
And because silence helps no one.

the hamster wheel of “what if’s”

the hamster wheel of “what if’s”

the “what if” hamster wheel

This week I’ve been exploring how those circling “what-if” thoughts can take over — often without us even realising.

What if I get it wrong?
What if I make the wrong choice?
What if they don’t like me?

It sounds like preparation, but really it’s a hamster wheel. No exit, just round and round.

And it’s sneaky, because it shows up in the small stuff too:

  • Standing in the supermarket wondering if tonight’s dinner will give everyone food poisoning.

  • Re-writing a simple text message three times in case it “reads funny.”

  • Playing through ten different versions of a conversation you might never even have.

At the heart of it, these circling thoughts aren’t about logic. They’re an old survival strategy — a pattern that once kept you alert and “ready for danger.” Except now, danger often looks like sending an email or choosing between pasta and potatoes.

The shift comes when you notice: “Oh — this isn’t truth. It’s just the pattern talking.”
That awareness gives you the chance to step off the wheel, breathe, and do things differently.

That’s the real work of moving beyond the pattern.

The Characters we play

The Characters we play

the characters we play

Sometimes it’s easier to notice our patterns when they’re given a name and a bit of tongue-in-cheek exaggeration. Two that cropped up this week:

  • Heidi Houdini: She bursts in full of enthusiasm, notebook and pens at the ready… and then, just as things get close to a deeper truth, she does a vanishing act worthy of the great Houdini himself. Easier to slip away than risk facing what she’s buried for years.
  • Belinda Brave-Face: Quick with the banter, always upbeat, the one who keeps the jokes and smiles flowing. On the outside she looks fine, but inside there’s a jaded edge, a hollowness that lingers once the punchline has left her lips.

Both patterns developed for a reason. Heidi learned early that her voice didn’t matter, so she tucked it away. Belinda discovered that performing and entertaining kept her liked and safe, while her real feelings were well hidden underneath…and so the show goes on.

Do you recognise a little bit of Heidi or Belinda in yourself or someone you know?

Why Healing Sometimes Doesn’t bring what we had hoped for.

If you’ve ever had healing sessions, maybe even taken an arm full of courses , and found yourself drifting back into the same old patterns afterwards, you’re not alone.

It’s not that the therapy was ineffective, or that you failed in some way. It’s that for some of us, the silent patterns running in the background don’t hand over control easily. When the solution offered feels out of your control, that sets of the alarm that created the pattern in the first place, and  the deeper part of you quietly pulls back,  and  that’s more than enough to stall change.

Real, lasting shifts happen when there’s space to be heard. When the pattern itself is kept in view, not bulldozed over but gently listened to. When you can choose how to move forward,  rather than having something “done to you.”

Beginning to Unravel

So here’s the question I leave with you this week:
Are you still willing to pay the price of staying stuck?

The tricky part is, these patterns don’t usually announce themselves. Often you can’t see them at all, or they wear disguises so convincing they look like common sense, logic, or “just how life is.” That’s why support matters:

  • to help identify what’s really running the show,
  • to reframe it so it no longer holds the same power,
  • and to walk with you through whatever surfaces along the way.

And if you’d like a gentle place to begin, Chiastolite Elixir can support these first steps. For anyone who purchases, I include a simple 3-day ritual protocol as a  gift,  a way of beginning to unbind old vows and ties with intention, while having something steady to hold you as you take those first steps. You can purchase the Elixir here  or book a chat over a cuppa to discuss your needs here

Because sometimes the bravest move isn’t a grand leap forward. It’s choosing to start look at  what no longer serves, finding that awareness can be crucial and it gives you the choice to choose what you begin to untangle,  one gentle knot at a time.

Not All Trauma Looks Like Trauma: When the Pattern Runs Deeper Than You Thought

Not All Trauma Looks Like Trauma: When the Pattern Runs Deeper Than You Thought

“Not All Trauma Looks Like Trauma,

especially When the Pattern Runs Deeper Than You Thought

We tend to think trauma has to be big, visible, or dramatic, something we can point to and name, but some of the deepest patterns I see,  in myself and the people I work with,  stem from early experiences that aren’t traumatic in the traditional sense.

They come from moments that were simply too much, or not enough, in a world where we hadn’t yet learned to navigate. Then they get stored,  not in conscious memory, but in the body’s blueprint. Held at a cellular level, shaping how we respond long after the moment has passed.

These reactions aren’t deliberate, they’re not chosen, but they do become reflexes, and they are protective adaptations that once helped us survive, but now hold us back.

Patterns don’t always disappear — but they do shift

The aim isn’t to erase what’s there. It’s to change how it lives in you. Allowing you to meet the pattern, not as a hinderance, but as a message, a signal, or a thread to follow.

When you begin to unravel that thread, something begins to shift. Not in one big leap,  but through steady, supported recalibration.

It can feel like : “I didn’t spiral like I usually do.”

“I paused before reacting, and that pause gave me everything.”
“It felt different, calmer,  like I had more choice.”

These aren’t just “lucky” moments,  they’re signs of change taking root. Working with vibrational essences offers a way to support that shift gently. Rather than pushing or overwhelming an already hyper-alert nervous system, the essences help create space, allow us the safety to feel, reflect, and respond differently.

Small changes add up…… and from there, bigger transformations become possible.

A gentle question to sit with

What is the main emotional pattern that keeps holding you back?
What in your life might change,  if you could move through it?

Let that land, and just allow curiosity to guide your exploration.

If this speaks to you… and you are tired of your patterns I currently have a limited number of spaces open for 1:1 deep healing support.

This work is ideal if you’ve already done some inner work ( although it isn’t a prerequisite), but find yourself circling the same themes. You may be aware that there is a pattern, but not necessarily what it is but you are tired enough of it,  that you’re willing to do what it takes to shift it.

You don’t have to be “ready” in the perfect sense, just open, and willing to explore what’s possible when change is no longer a solo effort. You can find out more HERE

Healing Today for a Brighter Tomorrow

Healing Today for a Brighter Tomorrow

What if future generations could grow up free of emotional trauma, unburdened by ancestral wounds, and fully connected to their soul wisdom? This is the world I dream of creating, and it begins with the healing we choose to do today

We live in a world of traumatised people, rearing future generations of equally traumatised people and the thing is, this burden gets heavier with each emerging generation.
Generational trauma is passed from our parents, our grandparents and their ancestral line too. As you look back it is easy to see how quickly the net of this connection is. If we go back 7 generations, without counting siblings etc,  we would be influenced roughly  by 127 people!  That is a whole lot of influence isn’t it!
Its not just the influence in the terms of the behaviours and mind sets that have been passed down but the emotional trauma that is held in cellular memory that is transferred too. So taking each subsequent parent at having a child at age 25 then these 7 generations would span just 175 years.
Now all though that may seem a long time, its the fact of when we look back over the last 175 years to what those previous generations would have lived through. From living conditions, wars, lifestyle, it is easy to see how these difficulties can be transferred to us at a cellular level.
If we do not process our emotions we will  become unwell. We all know the picture painted of the executive business person, driven and motivated and under so much stress, they hold overwhelm, they are constantly on the go, their mind never resting and eventually they are struck by burnout,if they are lucky, or by physical illness when their bodies can no longer keep up with the stress that they are putting themselves under.
Now that is an extreme picture to paint but to a lesser degree it is what we are all guilty of. We live in a world where we have been conditioned to push, to achieve, to maintain, and are seen weak if we do not. Now, thankfully many are seeing through this illusion – but it IS still a thing for many.
We only need to look at the adult generation of today to see how dysfunctional they can be, the reliance on addictive substances, recreational for escapism or pharmaceutical when there bodies are sending help signals in the form of physical symptoms to get them to take notice.
However, as we know that often pharmaceutical intervention is a high majority of cases is used simply to mask uncomfortable symptoms and not to address underlying causes. Where as addressing the emotional aspect can gift real insight into where these symptoms originate or more importantly why they have surfaced and why holistic or integrative medicine is important so that both side of this coin can be addressed.

My journey into this work began with my own struggles to break free from patterns of self-doubt and emotional pain. It took years to slowly untangle these threads, but through that process I discovered something profound, the deep wisdom and healing that comes from reconnecting with our true selves. What surprised me most was realising that many of the patterns I carried were rooted in my pre- and perinatal experiences.

Part of my own story was that I was conceived shortly after a traumatic stillbirth and arrived into the world prematurely. The imprints of these early experiences shaped how I related to myself and the world around me. Understanding this changed everything.

You can read more about my personal journey and the some of the implications of this type of trauma in my eBook Beyond the Pattern ~ Creating Conscious Change, Understanding the Echoes of Prebirth, Birth and Beyond. Sign up for your copy HERE

I now support others to shed light on their own stories, to gently untangle their threads, and to grow beyond the barriers these deep-rooted patterns may have held them in. I hold space in a way that feels deeply supportive, so their healing journey doesn’t have to take the years that mine did, always honouring the uniqueness of their path.

Imagine, if you can,  a world where parents are emotionally equipped to support their children from conception through to adulthood. A world where the echoes of ancestral wounds no longer shape our beliefs or behaviours. Where each generation is free to grow with clarity, self-worth, and a deep connection to their soul’s wisdom.

This is the ripple effect I strive to create through my work.

The healing journey doesn’t just transform the us ~ it sends waves of change through families, lineages, and communities.

When we begin to explore the deeper layers of our emotional and spiritual selves, we start to unpick the patterns that have kept us stuck, often for generations.

My role is to gently guide clients into this exploration. Whether they’re releasing self-doubt, untangling hidden beliefs, or breaking free from stories that no longer serve them, I offer a grounded yet intuitive approach that empowers real, lasting change.

Using tools intuitively, including  vibrational essences and the transformative energy of Gold, I support people to reconnect with their inner wisdom and return to the truth of who they are.

From this place, new possibilities open, and the life they’re truly meant to live can begin to unfold.

Does this sound like the kind of world that you would want to live in too?

What patterns are you ready to release so that you, and those you love, can step into a brighter future?

If this resonates, I’d love to help you explore the possibilities of your own healing journey – you can arrange a chat with me – just a no-pressure, heart-centered space to explore what you’re noticing, what may be arising, and whether gentle support could nourish your next steps.

There’s no expectation. Just a safe doorway into clarity, reflection, and possibility.

I’m looking forward to connecting with you soon.
