The Quiet Power of Sovereignty, Midwifing Our Own Change

Some weeks don’t unfold neatly,  they unravel, rearrange, and quietly ask you to walk your talk. This week’s been one of those, bringing reminders that real power is found in the moments.  Here’s what The Alchemist and Chiastolite have been showing me about sovereignty, self-trust, and the sacred messiness of change.

This week has been… well, a bit of a beautiful mess. Not disaster-mess, just the kind where everything you thought was settled suddenly starts shifting and you’re left watching it all rearrange itself. Uncomfortable, yes,  but alive with possibility and not just that I get to conduct the process, and to guide it from a place of deep inner knowing and truth.

I’ve been working with two essence allies: The Alchemist and Chiastolite. It’s no surprise they stepped forward,  I probably should’ve guessed the week was going to have “deep structural shift” written all over it, when they popped up!

Chiastolite is an essence that knows a thing or two about boundaries and balance. It’s wonderful for dismantling old vows and inherited agreements,  the kind you didn’t even realise you signed, or the ones that have become so outdated that its time for a clear out and for rebuilding healthy boundaries that fit the current version of who you have become. ( Yes we are always evolving!)

The Alchemist is the quiet master of inner transformation: turning emotional heaviness into clarity, strength, and wisdom. No drama, no smoke machines, just gentle transmutation that leaves you steadier than before. It reminds me that even the densest experiences contain light when we stop fighting the process and allow change to move through us.

Together they’ve been whispering, “Stop pushing. Let what’s done, be done.”

There’s a strange myth that sovereignty is intense, ferocious, loud and that it shows up like defiance or constant independence. In truth, it’s much quieter than that. Sovereignty can simply be the pause between impulse and reaction. It’s saying no without apology, or yes without explanation. It’s that grounded moment when you notice the old pattern itching to take over and decide, “Not today, darling.” That’s the real alchemy, turning unconscious reaction into conscious choice.

I often think of this process as midwifery. Years ago, I wrote a piece about being an “Ascension Midwife.” At the time it sounded wonderfully cosmic and most definitely woo~woo, but the essence of it still stands. We are all midwives of our own change.

There’s the part of us in labour, sweaty, uncomfortable, muttering, “why did I start this again?” Then there’s the wiser part beside us, holding the space, reminding us to breathe, trusting that the new life knows how to come through.

That’s sovereignty in action. It’s not control,  it’s conscious participation. A steady hand at your own back saying, “Keep going. You’ve got this.”

So if you’ve felt a bit undone this week, maybe it’s not falling apart, maybe it’s just the old vows dissolving and the new pattern crowning. Messy? Absolutely, Sacred? Always. So if you find yourself in that space and  need some extra support in that quiet, alchemical space, The Alchemist and Chiastolite are both available through my Inner Alchemy Essences range,  gentle allies for times when shadow is turning to gold
